Just Visiting?
With the advent of a studio in a box, the mobility of today's pro audio gear is impressive. But you don't want it going anywhere without you. So when you're traveling with equipment between studios, here's a few ideas to keep you and your stuff united.
Check the computer catalogs for hardware security devices. The same non-cuttable wire-loop leashes that they tout for computers can also work for most audio equipment, as well.
In a variation on that theme, check the local luggage or gadget store for motion alarms that they sell for travelers to keep on top of their baggage when it's unattended.
Make a check list and keep it separate from the gear. Just one word for each piece so you have a quick reminder of what's traveling with you. Small items are easy to overlook if you're in a stressful work environment and/or constantly on the run.
Black is still the coolest color. But it's a little too common for the exterior of travel cases. Consider spraying your stuff a less common color it makes it easier to spot and sends a subliminal but nonetheless real signal that this stuff belongs to someone who's not asleep at the wheel of life.
